Realizing The Truth

I've lost my way to you heart
Along time, long time ago.

By taking the wrong turn
Down a one way street
Filled with self destruction.

That old faulty compass
Didn't work any way,
And yes I was prewarned.

But hard knocks
brought me to a new day,
And I'm no closer to your heart.

Since love changed,
And we are anew.
I find even much more to regret.

Not often but sometimes
When I see a sparkle in your eyes
Then feel inclined to hug you.

Its hard to trick the heart
Into realizing the truth
That things are better like they are.
